ILM and the construction industry

ILM has worked alongside the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and the Institute of Quarrying (IQ) to create a suite of qualifications for the construction sector. These qualifications are designed to equip learners with core skills to drive projects in line with the needs of employers and contractors.

Construction qualifications

ILM’s Level 3 Qualifications in Leadership and Management Practice for the Construction and Built Environment Sector are aimed at team leaders, supervisors, foremen and site managers.

The qualifications give learners a thorough understanding of leadership and management principles to effectively lead, supervise and safely manage staff in the sector.

All ILM qualifications are built to maximise flexibility which means learners can use credits from successfully completed units to for other ILM qualifications. Units available include:

  • Delivery of site operation and logistics.
  • Handling difficult situations.
  • Achieving performance through people.
  • Diversity in the workplace.

The qualifications also have specialist nuclear, tunnelling and extractives pathways to allow learners on the Award, Certificate or Diploma to gain skills in:

  • Nuclear Safety Culture
  • Supervision in Tunnelling Environments
  • Supervising an Extractive Site

The key to great leadership development is ensuring that it has real impact at work. With the help of industry experts, the IQ and the CITB, we’ve tailored our robust frameworks to suit the construction industry’s specialist needs.
