Our post-nominals come with lifetime recognition and are free from annual membership fees – ensuring achievements are valued and acknowledged throughout a career.
What are post-nominals?
Post-nominals are designations placed after an individual’s name to signify professional achievements and qualifications. Available for levels 4-7 qualifications and apprenticeships, they include:
- LCGI Licentiateship of the City and Guilds of London Institute
- AfCGI Affiliate of the City and Guilds of London Institute
- GCGI Graduateship of the City and Guilds of London Institute
- MCGI Membership of the City and Guilds of London Institute
Post-nominals are more than just letters, they are powerful tools for personal and professional branding. They can be used across email signatures, LinkedIn profiles and business networks to serve as a hallmark of excellence and professionalism.

- How to use post-nominals?
Post-nominals are available to learners who complete one of our levels 4-7 qualifications or apprenticeships on/after April 2025. Learners can include letters after their names in emails and business networks to signify their qualification status.
For example, someone who has achieved level 5 will use the post-nominal AfCGI to indicate their Affiliateship of the City & Guilds of London Institute (e.g. Julie Smith AfCGI).
- How are ILM post-nominal digital credentials issued?
ILM post-nominal digital credentials are automatically issued to learners upon successfully completing their ILM level 4–7 qualifications or apprenticeships.
To issue digital credentials, we require a valid email address at the time of registration. If learners have not received their ILM post-nominals digital credential after completing their qualification or apprenticeship, they should contact their centre for assistance.
